You must have seen the Ashoka Pillar, the national symbol of India, carved out of wood in almost all government offices. Do you know who makes these? Where is it made?
You will be surprised to know that it is made in a village in Banaras itself, but till date the artisans have not received the recognition they should have.
There is a village, Karoma, near Harhua in Banaras district. Where 400 members of about 100 families have been doing wood carving for generations, the most special thing is that the participation of women in this art is equal, but the credit was given only to the male artisans.
Pragati Path Foundation not only worked to organize these crafts and free them from the clutches of middlemen but also worked to provide equal recognition to women crafts.
The efforts of the organization are bearing fruit and the media is also presenting these efforts to you. Today, on March 6, 2023, Dainik Jagran published the story of these women. Respectful gratitude to Dainik Jagran!💐💐💐
We want Karoma to be recognized as a craft village on the world map, so that these skilled women can get recognition. For which guidance and cooperation from all of you is desired.
