Economic Resilience building has empowered the women artisans in Varanasi. The Wood Shapers, is a brand that signifies dignity and recognizes the identity of women artisans by showcasing their skills and creativity. Women Women artisans rarely get space and opportunities to be appreciated and identified as "artisans". Focused engagement with women artisans is showing some change. Firstly, the women artisans themselves have a better sense of identity, they are taking the lead in discussions on product design, and costing. Secondly we can see shifts in the mindsets of people at large, be it their family members or other key people in the ecosystem. The Wood Shapers aims to continue working with women artisans by challenging the patriarchal social norms and ensuring change in society's outlook towards them. Grateful, to South Asia Women Foundation India (SAWF IN) for their support and for providing an opportunity to create a space of dignity for women artisans in Varanasi.
